Ecce Cor Meum, "Here is my heart" Paul McCartney carried out this oratorio in four movements for soprano, chorus and orchestra, which associates English and Latin texts, at the request of the famous English Oxford College.
It was created in November 2006 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
This unexpected work, whose order was a surprise for McCartney, flows naturally; it is intense and vibrating, tending towards light, as the ex-Beatle songs can be, even if the kind of expression is very far away from the usual field of the left-handed bass player.
The composer spent eight years to write this music: the composition had been stopped by his wife’s death, Linda, whose memory haunts the most moving passages.
A humble and enthusiastic ode to music, Ecce Cor Meum is an amazing and disconcerting work, reflecting the mystical process of the composer who has always been bent to hope. Ecce Cor Meum is a more spiritual confession than a religious one; a faithful musical piece which merrily bursts styles’ frontiers and fills hearts with emotion, without any preciosity nor sectarianism.
Three choirmasters will be in charge of the musical direction:
- Jacques MICHEL, professional choirmaster, conducting several formations in Toulouse,
- Andreas FOERSTER, music teacher, and choir conductor in Cologne,
- Audrey PEVRIER, professional singer, and choir conductor in Lyon,
- Antonio GUIRAO, choirmaster’s assistant, professional singer and teacher in Toulouse.
The musical organization:
With the exception of specific arrangements, we will work from 9.00 to 12.30, 15.00 to 18.30 and 20.30 to 22.00; some evenings will be free.
These periods include: vocal training, “tutti” sessions, works group rehearsals and concert preparation.
We will privilege good working conditions: auditorium, rooms equipped with a piano, in a gentle greenery site favourable to rest between working sessions.
The CREPS (Centre Regional d’Education Populaire et des Sports) is a public institution preparing students to sports professions and supporting top-level sports.
It is a vast campus located along Canal du Midi, in the South-East of the city.
It consists of several low buildings and we will be accommodated in twin bedrooms equipped with showers. We will have a big auditorium and rooms for the rehearsals for our sole use, which will constitute an exceptional environment of work. Meals will be taken at Sup Aéro higher education school that is located just opposite.
The location of the institution, along Canal du Midi offers most enjoyable assets: peace and quiet, walks along the canal, bus services or cycling lanes to the city centre.
