"John Rutter"

After last summer's greatly successful "King Arthur" concert in la Halle aux Grains in Toulouse, the 6th Eurochorus singing session is being actively prepared.

This year again, we will centre our programme around a British composer, but a contemporary one, John Rutter.

As in the 2008 session, we wish to mingle our voices with the children's again this year, and this is what we'll do in "Mass of the children", which we will perform with a choir of about sixty children. The second piece we will study is "Gloria".

At the end of our ten day singing course - from 13th to 22nd July 2012 - these two pieces will be presented in concert on Saturday 21st July and Sunday 22nd July 2012.

The aim of this session is to gather from 120 to 150 intermediate and high level amateur singers from all parts of Europe and beyond, with different languages and cultural backgrounds, who will spend ten days working and living together. This will enable them to share and exchange plenty of musical experiences through a common medium : vocal practice and the study of works taken from our common musical heritage.

Through this project, we wish not only to disclose these works to a large audience, but also go towards making groups of different nationalities better acquainted. Thus, in our own way, we promote the opening of a European space in Toulouse around vocal art.
